Animal Farm 40-60

Summary:
The begging of chapter four quickly reveals to me that napoleon and snowball are developing a communist government. I also dont get if the animals can talk to humans. And if Old Major told them that they should rise up against the farmers and humans , why are they interracting with humans. Like i said before napoleon and snowball wont rule over the farm together because like in many moveies and books one person always wants te power for themselves.Or there would be a disagreement between the two power rulers.

Quote:
"As the human beings apporached the farm buildings, snowball launched his first attack."

Reaction:
After reading the quote I was suprised that they attacked the farmers. I thought that they would have not gone through with the plan of taking over the farm. When they first started the rebellion i thought wow these animals are going to die because humans have guns and are much bigger then pigs, rats, chickens, dogs and ducks. This exeplifies that the idea of communism and its followers are very strong.

Animal Farm 20-40

Summary:
The first few pages of chapter three begins leading into the life of the main characters Snowball and Napoleon. We also learn that in the Farm the animals with the most power are the Pigs, then after the pigs its the horses Boxer and Clover. I think its ironic that the pigs are the animals with the most power because pigs are the animals that are slaughtered the most more then horses and any other animal that is mentioned in the book. From the start of the third chapter it was obvious that snowball and napoleon wont agree or stay as close as they are now.

Quote:
"The Seven Commandments"(Orwell 33)

Reaction:
After reading the seven commandments that were made by the pigs I thought this is ironic. I think that it was ironic because the pig Old Major told them that they shoudl rise against the humans and not do what they do. Then the pigs make commandments like what humans did a long time ago in the bible eventhough the commandments are telling them that they can not do what humans do.

Animal Farm pages 1-20

SUMMARY:
The begginig of the book starts of telling us the ideas of Old Major, who is the wisest of the pigs. At the beggining we can already tell that the end is coming near for Old Major because he is telling the farm how they should live there lives later on after he dies. He tells them the dream that he has about how the animals will rise against the tyranny of man. I as a reader also understand that there is a power struggle between the pigs.

Quote:
"The life of an animal is misery and slavery: that is the plain truth."(Orwell 18)

Reaction:
After reading this quote I immediatley thought of a communist government. With countriess that have a communist government the people that live under the government feel as if they are slaves and live miserable because there is a greater force that controls there every move, like animals which are the main characters of this book. The people treatiing the animals like slaves is the government and the people being mistreated and rights violated are the animals.

How Football Explains America 1-20

SUMMARY:

The begging of the book starts off as a worst nightmare for all new england patriot fans , which is a recap of the superbowl game featuring Tom Brady and the undefeated patriots up against the young Eli Manning and his giants. In this game the Pats hold the jets to a 3rd and five then a MIRACLE of a play is made by Eli Manning. Eli avoids a sack from New England's best tackles Adalis Thomas and Trent Green and makes a 45 yard pass to David Tyree. This pass puts The Giants within scoring range and a first down. They then go on to scoring a touch down to win the game. This story was put in the book to show how important the role of the quarterback is to the game of football. The role of the quarterback is then compared to the role of the president and how without him the world would not be the same.

QUOTE:

"football is the expression of strength of a dominant race, and to this it owes its popularity and its hopes of permanence"

REACTION:

The quote above is what football truly is. Football is only played by men to express that they are in fact the more dominant race. For that reason football is a test of strength. Football according to the book was made in order to show that they are and will always be in every way more superior to women and in order to establish a a sport that can be played in the Boston.

pages 40-80

Summary:
Nick is now headed back to his home after his vacation with his "future wife" Sheeni. When arriving home Nick quickly goes to lefty's house to tell him what happened while he was at Clear Lake. Lefty is shocked at what he hears from Nick and he asks for proof which Nick was prepared for. After Nick tells his Lovely vacation story Lefty begins to tell how his sister has been making his life a "living hell". After telling Nick what his sister has done to him Nick and Lefty come to a agreement that Nick will think of a way to get Lefty's sister back for making his life a living hell if Lefty watches the "devil dog" Albert. Jerry, Nicks mom's boyfriend died while "on the road". And Nicks mom does not take it to easy, in fact she spends a whole week crying. To make matters worse Jerry was married to a woman that lived in Dallas , same place he was "on the road" to. Interesting. Nick also moved Lefty into the mobile home that the family took from Clear Lake. He then took a bunch of lefty's clothes, a backpack, and shoes then rode his bike down to the pier and threw lefty's bag in the water. He then called 911 and said that he had just saw some boy jump into the Berkley Pier (with a Spanish accent) and rode off on his bike.
He then rides past Left's house to find a news crew outside talking to lefty's mother about lefty's suicide, which lefty has no idea about. He still thinks that he is just running away from his house. And Nick never tells him about the suicide until his cover comes close to being blown. Finally Nicks very nosy sister who always knows when he is hiding something comes over, how ironic.

Quote:
"So Joanie is queen of the snoops. One look at me and she could tell I was hiding something"(Payne 73)

Reaction:
I chose this quote because this quote was the most appealing to me. This quote basically told me what was going to happen in the next few pages which is that his sister is going to figure out what is going on with him and lefty.

Pages 20-40

Summary:

So Nick "dillinger" (which is what he would like for people to call him) is now on his way to Clear Lake with his mom and his whorish mom's lazy boyfriend Jerry. It is not stated in the book , but I think that they left to Clear Lake in order to dodge the four marines that he sold the Chevy that had a banana in the engine. While on the drive to Clear Lake Nick's mom waves to every motor cycler that roars past as if she knew them. In addition to waving at bikers Nicks mom cannot keep her hands off Jerry while they are driving which really disgusts Nick. When Nick arrives to the ''cabin'' he finds that they find out is actually a trailer park. The trailer park was very small, it only had two rooms one of which was the master bedroom where jerry and Nicks mom stayed in. The other was the kitchen/living room/Nicks room. Nick said it was so small that you can hear the smallest movement that happened in one room everywhere in the trailer. Nick found this out while he went to his bed and began to put his T.E.( Thunderous Erection) out of its misery. But while doing so Jerry came out and told jerry if he wanted to do so that he needed to go outside because he was making to much noise. The next day Nick experienced taking a shower in a public shower area with a old man that was staring at him while he washed. Then the best thing in Nicks life happened he bumped into a girl named Sheeni who said to him while walking by that his robe was open(just teasing him). Later she was found at his house introducing herself to his parents. To much surprise Nick actually talked to Sheeni and arranged for them to meet again. There date was set for the beach where the sparks began to fly between them. They then went hiking where Nick got his 1st kiss on the lips from a girl. The more time they spend the more they fall for each other, but eventually Nick has to leave to go back home.

Quote:
"As we walked into town, my panic started to subside. I can actually talk to girls''(Payne,23)

Reaction:

I chose this quote because it is both a surprise to me and Nick that he can actually talk to females. At the beginning of the story I got the impression that Nick was the type of person that would choke up when he comes in contact with a girl, but I was proved wrong. This quote is significant to the story to show the significance of Sheeni being in the story. I think the importance is that Sheeni brings out sides of Nick that even Nick didn't know he had. This can also be foreshadowing that Sheeni will have Nick do other things that he would not have done of he did not meet Sheeni.

Pages 1-20

Summary:

In the opening of the story Youth In Revolt by CD Payne the author quickly introduces the reader to Nick Twisp. Nick is the main character of the story. Right away we are let known by nick that he greatly despises his last name "Twisp". Nick goes on to inform us that he has a HUGE obsession with sex (even though he has never done "IT" before). Nicks parents are divorced and he currently lives with his mother. Just like most children of divorced parents he is subjected to spending time with his miserly father who constantly complains about paying child support. Currently nicks mom is dating a man named jerry who nick despises also. Jerry is a cheap con man who sells broken cars to people silly enough to buy them. Jerry sells a car to four sailors that think they bought a nice Chevy , which is actually a Chevy with a banana in the engine(how ironic). The sailors later come to nicks house looking for jerry nut he is not home. Instead Nick answers the door and the sailors tell Nick to tell Jerry that he will pay up or die. As a result the family goes on a "vacation" to Clear Lake,California. This vacation includes living in a trailer park, showering with complete strangers, trailer parks,1st love , and did I mention trailer parks?

Quote:
Blockquote"pouring his coffee mom said, "isn't it nice of Jerry to drop by so early" The woman takes me for a complete idiot"

Reaction:
I chose this quote for a lot of reasons, but the most important is that it relates to just about everybody. What I mean by this is that in the story Nick clearly knows that Jerry stayed the night and did not stay just to sleep. Thinking that Nick did not know what they were doing or even the fact that Jerry stayed the night , Nicks mom makes it seem like nick is a kid therefore he does not know anything about "grown up" business when he actually does. We have all experienced this before I am sure of this. I wonder why parents think that we teenagers have no idea what goes on with our parents just because we are younger.
